The useful cigar guide

Know enough
to choose well.

Clear explanations for the things that actually matter—without pretending you need a doctorate in tobacco.

01

Strength

Mild cigars are smooth and approachable. Medium cigars add body and complexity. Full-bodied cigars deliver deeper tobacco character and intensity.

02

Size & Time

Robustos are compact and flavour-forward. Toros provide a longer, balanced experience. A larger ring gauge changes the feel and burn—not automatically the strength.

03

Wrapper

The wrapper contributes aroma, texture and flavour. Connecticut styles are often lighter, Habano wrappers bring spice, and Maduro wrappers tend toward deeper sweetness and cocoa.

04

Cut & Light

Make a clean cut just above the cap. Toast the foot first, rotate the cigar, then draw gently as you light. A cigar should be enjoyed slowly, never attacked like a leaf blower.

05

Storage

Keep premium cigars at stable humidity in a proper sealed humidor. Refrigerators dry cigars out, and leaving them loose on a shelf turns good tobacco into expensive kindling.

06

Choosing Well

Start with flavour, time and strength. Tell us what you drink, what flavours you enjoy, and whether you want relaxing or bold—we can narrow the choices quickly.
